Actors will be back in the popular Disney Comedy “Wizards of Waverly Place" sequel, according to People. “We’re back,” Selena captioned her Instagram story, also announcing her involvement in the sequel’s pilot episode, written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, in another of her stories.  David also shared the news with his fans. “The Russo’s are excited to become a part of your family, once again, but we’ve grown...2024, the year magic comes back,” the 34-year-old actor wrote alongside a picture of the script.

The actors, who played siblings in the first Disney Channel series, have confirmed that they will be working together again on the follow-up. Gomez, 31, will reprise her character, Alex Russo, as a guest star in the pilot while Henrie, 34, will play Justin Russo as a series regular. The sequel will chronicle the aftermath of "a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife and two sons. But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door... and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World," according to an official synopsis.

Justin is taken aback when a formidable young magician shows up at his home unannounced, asking for advice. To ensure the Wizard World's survival, Justin must face his history and accept his magical heritage.

In the new Disney Channel series, Janice LeAnn Brown will play the title character, Billie, a young magician in training. Giada, Justin's wife, will be portrayed by Alkaio Thiele, while Mimi Gianopulos will play Roman, the eldest son.

The Wizards of Waverly Place ran from 2007-2012 on Disney Channel

Wizards of Waverly Place, a Todd J. Greenwald creation, ran for four seasons on the Disney Channel between October 2007 and January 2012. The show centers on the lives of the three wizard siblings who reside in Manhattan's Greenwich Village apartment building on Waverly Place: Alex, Justin, and Max Russo (played by Jake T. Austin).

Given the fact that no other original Russo family members have yet to formally commit to the reboot, Henrie addressed fan concerns on Instagram. In one response, he stated, "We definitely plan on bringing back the original cast for the series order," according to screenshots. As Justin's son and wife, respectively, Mimi Gianopulos and Alkaio Theile are currently scheduled to star.

The third and fourth seasons descended into a family competition, whereas the first and second seasons concentrated on the siblings overcoming obstacles in their daily lives. In the last season, Alex emerges victorious and Justin takes over as headmaster of WizTech, a boarding school for ambitious young wizards. After taking over as manager of the family's sandwich restaurant, Max was able to convince the wizard community to contribute. The original Wizards of Waverly Place is available for streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar.
