Yesterday, we saw DC win against MI by 29 runs. The match was played at Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi. Delhi Leg began yesterday. By batting first, DC posted a huge total of 192 runs for 4 wickets in their 20 overs.
DC from the first over played an aggressive brand of cricket, beginning with Shafali Verma, who scored a quick fire of 28 from 12 balls. After that, Skipper Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues played wonderful innings and completed their half-centuries. Jemimah was the highest scorer; she scored 69 from 33 balls, and Lanning scored 53 from 38 balls.
However, MI batters failed miserably against DC bowlers. They lost four wickets inside the power play. Harmanpreet returned after missing a couple of matches due to injury. She also failed to score runs.
However, MI got support from theirlower order as Amanjot Kaur and S Sajana scored 42 and 24 runs, respectively. They scored 163 for 8 after their 20 overs. The DC bowlers were quite disciplined from the start, as everyone chipped and got wickets except Arundhati Reddy. Jess Jonassen was a star bowler as she took three wickets. She also had a purple cap after the match as she became the leading wicket taker of this edition. Jemimah was named player of the match for her brilliant fifty at a 209 strike rate.
With this win, DC became the new table-toppers, with 8 points in 5 matches. MI are second with 6 points in 5 matches. Now the tournament is becoming more interesting as we are heading towards the final quarter.
