Tyre Burst Sparks Panic in Mahipalpur Amid Heightened Tensions After Red Fort Blast; Delhi on High Alert

A loud noise supposedly caused by a bus’ tyre burst triggered panic in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur area on Thursday morning even as anxiety of the public was increased after a blast near Red Fort, officials said.

New Delhi (India) November 13: A moment of panic broke out during early Thursday morning when a call came saying there was a loud noise near the Radisson Hotel in Delhi’s Mahipalpur locality. Emergency services and police were quickly called to the scene after they received a call about it at approximately 9:18 am, authorities said. After they called up, officials were told that the caller had heard a big bang as he was on his way to Gurugram. But when teams arrived at the site, they found no evidence of any explosion.

An individual even inquired with the locals but was told by a security guard that it was the wheel of a DTC bus bound for Dhaula Kuan, which had burst. Leaders have confirmed that it is business as usual. 

DNA Identifies Red Fort Bomber as Dr. Umar Un Nabi

Two days after a blast in a car outside Red Fort, the Delhi Police on Thursday identified Umar Un Nabi, hailing from Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Samples of DNA were taken from a severed left leg found jammed between the car’s accelerator and steering wheel, officials say. FSL officials have in the meantime orally communicated to the investigators about the match, and wait for DNA results. Nabi’s mother had been swabbed for DNA in Pulwama and her sample brought to Delhi for confirmation.

Investigators Trace Terror Network Behind Blast

Nabi worked as an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Police had earlier taken him in connection to the detention of Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr Adeel Rather, who were both arrested last week in Jammu and Kashmir on charges of hoarding an estimated 2,900kg of ammonium nitrate with detonators and timers and at least eight assault rifles owned by A commando-hotels,,timers into faridabad.

The rest of the members of the module, which was behind the Red Fort blast case are being traced and will be arrested by security agencies soon.

Delhi Tightens Security Following Terror Link Revelation

Delhi is on a high alert with security beefed up at all major locations in the city after last week's blast near the Red Fort. Every important crossing and sensitive points are under the guarding of security personnel as vehicles going towards to and coming from the capital are being checked stringently. Residents were rattled by the blast near Red Fort on November 10. 13 people lost their lives in the tragedy and several were injured, who are being treated at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital.

The blast has been linked to a terror module based in Faridabad. A number of suspected terrorist doctors have been arrested in the case and authorities have seized nearly 2,900 kg of explosives and numerous weapons from them.
