Ramya Credits Rahul Gandhi for Help During Her Battle with Suicidal Thoughts Following Father’s Death!

30th March 2023, Mumbai: Renowned actress Ramya, also known as Divya Spandana, who has made a mark in the Tamil and Kannada film industries, opened up about the challenging period she faced following the demise of her father, RT Narayan. In a candid disclosure, she shared that she had even considered taking her own life, and expressed gratitude towards Rahul Gandhi for being her pillar of support during those difficult times.

During her appearance on the renowned talk show ‘Weekend with Ramesh Season 5’, Ramya spoke about the trying period she faced in her life. She shared that despite losing her father, RT Narayan, just two weeks prior, she attended Parliament, despite having no prior knowledge of the proceedings or anyone present there. She learned everything quickly and utilised her grief to focus on her work. She attributed her confidence to the people of Mandya who supported her during that difficult phase.

Ramya shared that her mother is the most significant influence in her life, followed by her father, and thirdly, Rahul Gandhi. She expressed that when she reached a point of despair after losing her father, she had contemplated suicide and became isolated from others. Furthermore, she lost the election and was dealing with a sense of grief. However, during this challenging period, Rahul Gandhi provided emotional support and helped her cope with the situation.

Ramya became a member of the Indian Youth Congress in 2012 and later led the Congress’s social media campaign in 2019. However, as the election results did not turn out to be in their favour, she decided to exit from politics. Subsequently, she returned to the film industry.

Ramya marked her entry into the film industry with the Kannada movie “Abhi” in 2003, which starred Puneeth Rajkumar. Over the years, she acted in several highly successful films. However, in 2013, she declared her decision to leave the film industry and pursue a career in politics. Nonetheless, she returned to acting and made her comeback in 2016 with the film “Nagarahavu”.
