Union Minister Piyush Goyal criticised Europe over its carbon emissions at the Berlin Global Dialogue 2026, questioning developed nations’ responsibility for climate change.
Goyal said India has around 17% of the world’s population but contributes less than 3% of global carbon emissions.
He criticised the European Union’s carbon tax measures, warning that they could increase costs for Indian exporters and affect trade competitiveness.
Goyal also questioned developed countries over their climate finance commitments, arguing that developing nations need greater support to tackle climate change.
