Byju’s is an Indian multinational educational technology company, headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It was founded in 2011 by Byju Raveenfran, Byju’s is valued at US$22 billion. As of April 2023, the company claims to have over 150 million registered students. Byjus provides learning for every age student in addition it also provides preparation for gate exams.

Overview

History

Byus was founded in 2011 by Byju Raveendran. It all started in 2008 when Raveendran was a teacher and used to take classroom classes named Byju’s Classes. The classes focused on preparing students for the MBA, competitive exam, and common admission test. In 2011, Byju’s Classes was established as a company, and Byju’s App was created to provide students with online learning and make studies more interactive and fun.

By 2015, Byjus had become the highest-grossing ed-tech app in the next two years but had started classes for grades 4–12. By 2018, Byju’s user count had risen to 15 million. In 2019, Byju sponsored the Indian cricket team. As Byju’s was growing, it acquired White Ht. Jr. and Aakash Educational Services.

From a small classroom coaching company to the leading ed-tech company, Byju’s has made learning fun, interesting, and easy for every class.

Services

There are many services provided by Byjus for students of different age groups preparing for gate exams. The services are learning programmes, test preparation, doubt-solving, adaptive learning, and learning through games.

• Adaptive Learning: Each student’s learning experience is tailored at Byju’s using adaptive learning technologies. The platform keeps track of each student’s progress and adjusts the classes’ material and level of difficulty in accordance with their needs and rate of learning.
• Tests Preparations: Byju’s prepares students for tests. Byju’s provides learning for various entrance exams such as JEE, NEET, GMAT etc. The app provides high-quality study material, mock tests and personalised coaching.
• Doubt Solving: Byju’s also provides doubt-solving sessions to students. The doubts are solved by a team of experts who are professional and can solve any doubt that students may have.

Founder

The founder of Byju’s is Byju Raveendran. He was born in Azhikode, a village in the Indian state of Kerala, in 1980. Byju Raveendran studied mechanical engineering at the government engineering college in Kanpur. Ranveendran had cracked CAT without coaching classes.

Byju Raveendran is the CEO of Byju’s and leads a team of over 10,000 employees. He is considered one of the most successful entrepreneurs in India and has been recognized with several awards and honours for his contributions to the field of education and edtech.
