24th September 2023, Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s cinematic juggernaut, “Jawan,” continues to rewrite the record books, surpassing even his own previous milestone with “Pathaan.” On its 17th day of relentless cinematic domination, “Jawan” etched its name in history as the biggest-ever Hindi movie in India. According to the discerning eyes of industry tracker Sacnilk, “Jawan” amassed an impressive estimated sum of Rs 13 crore on its third Saturday, propelling its net domestic collections to an astounding Rs 546 crore. This staggering achievement surpasses the previous benchmark set by “Pathaan,” which had a lifetime collection of Rs 543 crore, thus confirming “Jawan” as the new titan of Hindi cinema.
Jawan’s Milestones
The saga of “Jawan” began with an earth-shattering debut earlier this month, carving its name in the annals of cinematic history. The film accomplished the extraordinary feat of registering the biggest opening day ever, amassing a colossal Rs 75 crore. It continued its relentless charge by claiming the record for the most substantial single-day earnings in Hindi cinema, a staggering Rs 80 crore, achieved on its inaugural Sunday. “Jawan” further solidified its dominance by becoming the fastest Hindi movie to conquer milestones like Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore, and ultimately, Rs 500 crore in a whirlwind opening week.
Jawan Starcast
On the 17th day of its triumphant march, “Jawan” sustained its allure with an all-India occupancy rate of 23% for the Hindi-language version. Impressively, even the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions managed to secure occupancy rates of 35% and 21%, respectively, despite having limited showings. Directed with finesse by Atlee and featuring a stellar cast including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, “Jawan” was strategically designed to captivate audiences across the nation, positioning Shah Rukh Khan as the pan-Indian superstar.
Jawan Surpasses Pathaan
This remarkable accomplishment follows Shah Rukh Khan’s triumphant return to the silver screen earlier this year with “Pathaan.” After a hiatus of nearly five years, “Pathaan” notched over Rs 1000 crore in global earnings. As of the most recent update, “Jawan” has amassed a staggering worldwide collection of Rs 957 crore. It is poised to dethrone “Pathaan” at the global box office, securing its position as the second-highest-grossing Bollywood release in history, trailing only behind Aamir Khan’s magnum opus, “Dangal.”
SRK’s Highest Grossing Films
Shah Rukh Khan’s cinematic reign shows no sign of waning, with a third and final release for the year, “Dunki,” slated for Christmas. With two $100 million-plus blockbusters in a single calendar year, Shah Rukh Khan stands alone as the reigning king of Bollywood. “Pathaan” and “Jawan” not only mark the pinnacle of his career but also etch his name in the annals of Indian cinema as the two biggest Hindi hits of all time.
