New Delhi (India) November 6: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced a new protest in Kochi, Kerala, on November 7. The organisation has requested its members to join the protest scheduled at Rajendra Maidan, Kochi at 4 PM on Saturday in its new statement.
The statement has the tagline "Save Democracy! Cancel SIR!", underlining the organisation's stance against Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
Prakash Raj Appeals For Support
Actor Prakash Raj in a video message issued on X appealed to students, youth, people and representatives of different organizations to take part in the protest against the SIR exercise.
This marks the first CJP protest announcement after Dipke suggested that the group would pause demonstrations.
CJP Leaders Face Police Questioning
Days before the announcement of the latest protest, CJP leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ajinkya Shinde were questioned by the Delhi Police Crime Branch over two FIRs filed in relation to the Jantar Mantar protest on October 13.
The FIRs lodged at Connaught Place and Parliament Street police stations related to trespass through private property to get to Jantar Mantar and violations of conditions at the denotified protest site.
Following the questioning, Ranka said the CJP would cooperate with the investigation and reiterated that raising the national flag was not a criminal offence.
Das Vows To Continue Fight
Saurav Das, a leader of the CJP, said in his first video message post his release from Tihar Jail that he along with Ashutosh Ranka will keep fighting, despite the authorities' efforts to muzzle the youth movement.
In a video posted on Instagram, Das said the support they received during their hours in judicial remand had sustained them and strengthened their resolve to continue raising issues of the nation.
Das Hits Back At Political Allegations
Targeting the political party which routinely tags its critics as anti-national, Das wondered how two young men could be put behind bars for merely patronizing their nation. He said the event revealed what he called inconsistencies in the party's nationalist views, and said the world was observing what was happening.
Das also attacked all the claims being made against him and Ranka including foreign funding claims. Jitendra Singh had leveled allegations against them without any proof.
