A British couple travelling across India with their 2-month-old baby has gone viral after sharing their heartwarming experience of travelling by Indian Railways. The couple described Indian trains as one of the “best and easiest” ways to travel between cities in India.
Travel influencers Hazel Lindsey and Martin Bailey shared their journey on Instagram through a video titled “Sharing thoughts about travelling in India with a 2-month-old baby.” Along with their newborn son Alexander, the couple explored different parts of India and documented their experiences.
Indian Railways Made Their Journey Comfortable
The couple praised Indian Railways for being comfortable, affordable, and easy to use. According to them, trains in India are mostly on time and tickets can be booked easily through mobile apps. They said travelling by train became one of the smoothest parts of their India trip.
Although they admitted that some railway stations were crowded, they appreciated the availability of elevators and porters, which made travelling with heavy luggage and a baby much easier.
Baby Alexander Enjoyed the ‘Hustle and Bustle’
One surprising thing for the couple was how well their baby adapted to India’s busy environment. They shared that their son enjoyed the “hustle and bustle” and slept peacefully during train rides, auto-rickshaw journeys, and even while they had dinner outside.
The couple also highlighted the warm and loving nature of Indian people. They said many locals came forward to greet and cuddle their baby, making them feel welcomed everywhere they went.
Despite these small issues, the couple said India is “incredibly welcoming to infants.” They were touched by how restaurants often arranged cute cribs for their baby during dinner outings.
However, they also mentioned a few challenges during the trip. The February heat in South India was difficult at times, and they were extra careful about tap water hygiene while bathing their baby.
