New Delhi (India) April 26:Gujarat Titans (GT) continued to dominate with an 8-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2026 clash in Chennai on Sunday. GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl, and the decision proved that right as Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj delivered an impressive spell in the powerplay by taking three wickets of CSK.
Gaikwad Fights For CSK, Sudharsan Dominates Chase
There was an opening collapse from CSK, as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay, however an important innings from their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad took CSK to 158 runs. The captain would go on to score 74* from 60 balls, striking at 123.33 and hitting six fours and four sixes. The innings saw a lack of support at the other end with Shivam Dube (22) being one of the four batsmen who contributed double-digits as part of small partnerships with him, along with Kartik Sharma (15) and Jamie Overton (18).
Sai Sudharsan drove the Gujarat Titans towards this win. He scored 87 runs (46b, 4x4, 7x6). After his fifty, he put his foot on the accelerator and hit five sixes to ensure GT eased to victory in just 16.4 overs.
Dhoni's Absence Sparks Fan Concern
It is reported that many fans of the Chennai Super Kings were disappointed that MS Dhoni missed his 8th match in the 2026 IPL season on Sunday, April 26. Fans of CSK are urging the franchise to explain the status of the legendary wicketkeeper. It is now a case of many fans believing MS has quietly retired.
Dhoni was supposed to sit out for two weeks in the tournament however this period has now been well over-extended. MS Dhoni has taken part in a few training sessions with CSK. Batting coach Michael Hussey insists Dhoni has been doing well to recover his progress however they do not want to pick him until he's 100 percent recovered.
