One of the victims died in Austin, Texas following a widespread mass shooting — an attack on the capital city on a 21-year-old Indian -American student, who is said to be investigating possibly the attack as a terrorist attack.

The victim was Savitha Shan, along with 19-year-old Ryder Harrington, according to the Austin Police Department. Reports say at least three people died while more than a dozen are injured, but police authorities have officially confirmed two fatalities as of now.

What Happened in Austin?

The shooting took place at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden on West Sixth Street — a popular nightlife spot near the University of Texas at Austin.

The 53-year-old suspect, Ndiaga Diagne, reportedly drove past a crowd and then circled back and opened fire starting from his SUV on individuals standing outside and inside a bar, according to reports.

The suspect was subsequently shot dead by police.

Now authorities are looking into whether the incident fits the definition of terrorism. Media reporting, including from the Associated Press, had said he wore clothing featuring an Iranian flag and with the phrase “Property of Allah.” Officials, however, lack clear motive and don’t claim there is a simple motive.
