New Delhi (India) April 12:Chennai Super Kings finally found their rhythm in the Indian Premier League 2026 , clinching a 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals in a much-needed win at their home ground in Chennai. After a shaky start to the season, the team delivered a strong all-round performance in this crucial match.

CSK Sets a Target of 212

Batting first, CSK set an impressive target of 212 runs for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. The standout performer was Sanju Samson, who scored an unbeaten century of 115 runs off just 56 balls. His explosive innings included four towering sixes and 15 boundaries, and he formed key partnerships along the way—62 runs with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who contributed 15, and a massive 113 runs with Ayush Mhatre, who added 59 off 36 balls. Samson also shared an unbroken 37-run stand with Shivam Dube, who chipped in with 20 runs.

DC Falls Short at 189 Runs

In response, Delhi Capitals started their chase with determination, aiming to keep pace with the required run rate. However, CSK’s bowlers were relentless, striking at crucial moments to disrupt the flow of the game. Despite some spirited performances from Pathum Nissanka, who scored 41 off 24 balls, and Tristan Stubbs, who managed 60 off 38, Delhi fell short of the target, finishing their innings at 189.
Jamie Overton shone with the ball for CSK, taking 4 wickets for just 18 runs, while Gurjapneet Singh and Anshul Kamboj also made valuable contributions with the ball.

Gaikwad Praises Bowling and Samson

CSK Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said, "Yes, obviously, feels good to finally get that win and to come here and speak to you. But I think it was great performance to start with. I always felt that coming here, we have been batting really well, batting first and to post 200-210 when the wicket is slightly on the slower side and still posting that good total, I think we were showing really good signs even the last game which we played here. But as I said, today again it was one of those knocks where Sanju actually took to the opposition, played a magnificent knock, even Ayush played brilliantly. But it was about bowling today. It was about wickets in the middle or bowling that aggressive lengths and sticking to your plans, keep it really simple. So, really proud of the bowling effort” regarding the win.
