Delhi Capitals Top IPL Table After Beating Mumbai Indians by 6 Wickets

New Delhi (India) April 4:The Delhi Capitals have made an impressive start to their IPL 2026 campaign, sitting at the top of the points table after a solid victory over the Mumbai Indians by six wickets. Sameer Rizvi shone brightly for DC, scoring a brilliant 90 runs that helped his team chase down a modest target of 163 runs.

MI Bats Poor, Scores 162/6

Winning the toss, the Capitals opted to field first, putting the Mumbai Indians on the back foot from the start. The opening partnership faltered, with just 18 runs on the board when Mukesh Kumar struck, claiming the wicket of Ryan Rickelton. He soon followed up with another key breakthrough, sending Tilak Varma back to the pavilion.
Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav then stepped up for MI, stabilizing the innings with a vital partnership. They added 53 runs together before a stunning catch by Nitish Rana sent Sharma walking back to the dugout.

Yadav continued to anchor the innings, pushing the score to a respectable total, but the Capitals recognized the danger posed by the partnership between Yadav and Naman Dhir. Just when things looked promising for MI, Delhi managed to dismiss Yadav, turning the tide in their favor. Despite Dhir’s efforts alongside Mitchell Santner, the Capitals’ bowlers kept taking wickets, limiting Mumbai to 162 runs for six wickets after their 20 overs.

DC Chases Easy, Wins by 6 Wickets

Delhi’s innings got off to a rocky start, but a strong partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket between Rizvi and Pathum Nissanka steadied the ship. Although Nissanka's dismissal gave Mumbai hope, Rizvi stood his ground, playing a stellar innings of 90. By the time he departed, the Capitals needed just 12 runs to seal the win. David Miller and Tristan Stubbs ensured there were no further hiccups as they guided the team to victory with six wickets in hand, marking the Capitals’ second win of the tournament.
