A mysterious death in Goa has taken a shocking turn after police registered a murder case following the death of a Karnataka businessman inside a hotel room in Calangute. The victim, identified as Sandeep Saliyan, was found unconscious in his room late Tuesday night after reportedly spending time at a casino with friends.

According to police, the 42-year-old Sandeep Saliyan, a resident of Malpe in Karnataka's Udupi district, had travelled to Goa with three friends for a short trip. The group checked into a hotel in Calangute, one of Goa's busiest tourist destinations.

During the evening, the friends visited a casino in Calangute. Preliminary investigations suggest that while at the casino, Sandeep came into contact with an unidentified person and was seen interacting with him for some time. Police are now trying to identify this individual, who is believed to be a key part of the investigation.

As the night progressed, Sandeep became separated from his friends. When they were unable to reach him, they began searching for him. Their search ended at the hotel, where they found him lying unconscious inside his room.

The hotel authorities were alerted, and Sandeep was rushed for medical assistance. However, he was declared dead, and the incident was immediately reported to the Calangute Police.

During the initial investigation, police found that some of Sandeep's personal valuables were missing from his body. This discovery raised suspicions that the death may not have been accidental, leading officers to register a murder case.

Confirming the development, North Goa Superintendent of Police Harish Madkaikar said that the death occurred under suspicious circumstances and that investigators are examining every possible angle.

Police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel, nearby areas, and the casino to trace Sandeep's movements before his death. Investigators are also questioning hotel staff, casino employees, and the victim's friends to establish a clear timeline of events.

A postmortem examination has already been conducted. However, doctors have reserved the final opinion on the exact cause of death until the viscera analysis report is received. The forensic findings are expected to play a crucial role in determining how Sandeep died.

Sandeep Saliyan was well known in his hometown of Malpe. He had earlier worked as the personal aide of BJP leader Pramod Madhwaraj before leaving politics several years ago. He later established his own water sports business, which had become popular among tourists visiting the coastal region of Udupi.

The sudden death has shocked his family, friends, and the local community, with many demanding a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Police are now focused on identifying the unknown person Sandeep reportedly met at the casino. Investigators believe this individual could provide vital clues about the events leading up to the businessman’s death.
