Ajinkya Shinde is a rising star in the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) after the detention of its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, by Delhi Police on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Shinde has been tasked with leading the party's protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar for alleged malpractice in the voter roll revision.

The party announced the new leader in a video uploaded to its social media account. A caption in the video stated that Shinde would take charge of the protest and CJP in the absence of its detained leaders.

The protest focuses on the allegations of vote rigging, and irregularities in the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. CJP has demanded that Kumar be forced to resign and be taken to prison for the alleged electoral violations.

Who Is Ajinkya Shinde?

Ajinkya Shinde, 35 years old, is a Maharashtra-based political worker and former member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He allegedly campaigned for c in the 2016 Goa Assembly elections before joining the party in Maharashtra.

A computer science graduate, Shinde worked in an international information technology firm in Pune before becoming a full-time AAP worker. He has a Bachelor of Technology degree from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University in Lonere, Raigad district, Maharashtra.

Reports also suggest that his parents were farmers in Alibaug before the family settled in Latur. Shinde's association with CJP and his role in the protest have made his political work come under the spotlight after Dipke's detention.

What Happened to Abhijeet Dipke?

According to the CJP, Delhi Police arrested Dipke, Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, party members, as soon as their plane landed in Delhi on Saturday.

Videos uploaded by the organisation purportedly showed police officers entering the plane before any of the passengers could disembark. In another video, Dipke was seen talking to officers who had boarded the plane.

The organisation alleged that police told its leaders that they did not have permission to hold their demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

Following the alleged detentions, Shinde was asked to lead the protest until the other leaders were released. The events have placed him at the centre of the CJP's protest, which is aimed at seeking accountability for alleged electoral irregularities and changing of voter rolls.

The allegations against the Election Commission and the detentions have been claimed by the party and need to be verified independently.
