New Delhi (India) November 7: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dared Union Home Minister Amit Shah to participate in an open debate on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Rahul said, "Amit Shah ji, don't confuse Modi ji. Just convince him to have an open debate with me. Any platform, any time. Don't be afraid.”

Gandhi posted a video of a speech made by Amit Shah, provoking a strong reply from the BJP that he was circulating a cropped video and was unprepared on the matter.

Joshi Questions Gandhi's Homework

Taking on Rahul after his observations, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the Congress leader shared an edited version of Shah's video. Without sharing the full video, the clip exposed the complete lack of homework of Rahul.

"Circulating cropped, out-of-context video of Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji shows only one thing- @RahulGandhi's absolute lack of homework on SIR," Joshi said.

BJP Hits Back At Rahul Gandhi

He also hit out at Rahul's opinion on the electoral process, claiming the Congress leader accepted the electoral process when his party had won the elections but denied the process after losing in polls.

"When you win elections, the electoral process is acceptable; when you lose, the same process suddenly becomes questionable. Is this your understanding of democracy?" Joshi said.

"You lost the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections even when no SIR was conducted. Will you take responsibility for those defeats or blame something else?" he added.

Shah Offers Parliament Debate

Joshi also said that Shah had already asked Rahul to raise the issue of SIR in Parliament and said that he is ready for a special session for that.

"And now, when Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji has openly challenged you to discuss SIR in Parliament and even offered a special session, why the hesitation. Enough of political theatrics, Rahul ji. Bring your arguments to Parliament and debate with facts," he said.

The debate comes after Gandhi launched an online poll on social media on Tuesday, seeking views of young Indians about the debate he proposed between him and Modi. He had tagged a few senior BJP leaders, urging them to ask the prime minister to respond.
