Arvinder Singh Lovely is an Indian politician and a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He held the position of president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (Delhi PCC) from 2013 to 2015, and again from 2023 to 2024. In 1998, he was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly as the youngest MLA from Gandhi Nagar constituency. He was again elected in 2003, 2008 & 2013. He has also been the Minister for Urban Development & Revenue, Education, Transport, Tourism, Languages, Gurudwara Election, Local Bodies & Gurudwara Administration in the Sheila Dikshit government of Delhi. Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from Congress and again joined BJP on 04.05.2024.

Career

Arvinder Singh Lovely, as the MLA, played a significant role in the development of Gandhinagar, East Delhi’s most prosperous region. He opened the first metro station in the area, opened community centers, schools, and sewer lines. He also worked on regularizing West Kantinagar, East Azad Nagar, Naya Shanti Mohalla, and Kantinagar Ext., the largest wholesale readymade clothes market in Asia. During his tenure, he constructed four bridges in the area, including the Signature Bridge. As Education Minister, he introduced the Point System of admissions, EWS, and Laadli Schemes to improve inclusiveness in schools. He also regularized 1000 colonies across Delhi, introduced the Delhi Development of Urban Village Scheme, and strengthened infrastructure through Pushta Road, Elevated Roads, and flyovers. As Transport Minister, he replaced Blue Line buses with Low Floor buses, increased road safety, and introduced budget Radio Taxis. Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from Congress and again joined BJP on 04.05.2024.
