Joshi began his political journey with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later became actively involved with the BJP. He first gained recognition as the Mayor of Hubballi before entering national politics. In 2004, he was elected as the Member of Parliament from Dharwad, Karnataka, and has successfully retained the seat in every Lok Sabha election since then.

As a Union Minister, Pralhad Joshi has handled several important portfolios. He served as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines, where he focused on improving parliamentary functioning and increasing coal production. Later, he was entrusted with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, playing a key role in India's food security and renewable energy initiatives.

Apart from politics, Joshi is known for his simple personality and strong connection with the people of Karnataka. He believes in transparency, efficient governance, and development-driven politics. His leadership has earned him respect across party lines.

He is fluent in Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and English, enabling him to communicate effectively with people from different regions. Although he keeps his personal life private, he is often appreciated for balancing public service with family responsibilities.
