RR BACK ON WINNING TRACK AS THEY DEFEAT THEIR ARCH RIVALS PBKS BY 3 WICKETS

RR defeated PBKS by 3 wickets in a final over thriller in the 27th match of IPL-17 held at newly constructed Maharaj Yadavindra Singh Intl. Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.

MATCH SUMMARY:

After winning the toss RR opted to bowl after which PBKS posted a total of 147/8 in 20 overs. Trent Boult proved to be star bowler from RR conceding only 22 runs and taking one wicket after which Yashavi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer made way for the victory after playing impactful knocks of 39 and 27 respectively.

MATCH HEROES:

All of the RR bowlers took atleast one wicket making it tough for PBKS Batsman to score a respectful total as a result of which team could managed upto 147 runs in 20 overs. For PBKS Jitesh Sharma 29 of 24 balls and their firebrand finisher Ashutosh Sharma 31 of 16 balls played and impactful innings. Captain Dhawan was not available due to injury hence Sam Curran was captaining PBKS Squad. On the other hand Jaiswal returned to his form scoring 39 of 28 making the chase easy for visitor team in Powerplay itself. Lastly Carribean Power Hitter Shimron Hetmyer showed his intent and played a finishing knock of 27 of just 10 balls and was awarded with Super Striker of the match.

POINTS TABLE:

Royals are back on winning track and have lost just 1 out of 6 matches they played and are on top of table with a healthy run rate of +0.767. Meanwhile PBKS is still struggling to find some momentum and is currently at 8th spot with only 2 wins in 6 matches. Only DC and RCB are below PBKS. MI has gained some momentum from last 2 matches and will try to make a hattrick with their arcfh rivals CSK on Sunday. As of now RR 10 points followed by KKR, CSK, LSG, SRH and GT having 6 points each. MI, PBKS and DC are having 4 points while RCB at the bottom of table is the only team with single win having RR of -1.124.

TODAYS MATCH:

14 April, 2024 i.e. Sunday will be a Double Header. First match between KKR and LSG will start at 3:30 PM. Battle will be fought at KKR’s home ground Eden Gardens. While all the cricket fans will be waiting eagerly for 7:30 as it is the El-Classico of IPL i.e. Mumbai Indians Vs. Chennai Super Kings to be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Three of the four teams (KKR, LSG and CSK) playing today will be having a chance of entering top 2 of the points table.
