Bihar Bridge Scare: Cracks, Exposed Rods Trigger Panic

The ₹64-crore Keni Bridge over the Falgu river is reportedly in a dangerous condition, with videos showing exposed iron rods, cracked concrete slabs and damaged pillars.

Visuals shared online revealed deep gaps between slabs and rusted rods sticking out from the bridge structure. Several corners of the bridge also appeared broken, raising questions over the quality of construction and maintenance.

The bridge is an important route connecting Gaya to eastern regions including Rajgir and Nawada. Local residents now fear another major bridge collapse in the state.

Local MLA Prem Kumar said the issue has been reported to the Road Construction Department and inspections of bridges across Bihar have started.

According to reports, officials are checking the condition and structural lifespan of bridges while also collecting complaints from different districts.

Series Of Bridge Incidents In Bihar

Earlier this month, a slab between two pillars of the Vikramshila Setu collapsed in Bhagalpur. The bridge connects the Purvanchal region to Seemanchal.

Although no injuries were reported, traffic movement in the area was affected and diverted after the collapse.

In another recent incident, several pillars of a bridge over the Sakri river in Dariyapur also collapsed on Friday.

Officials said the bridge, built nearly 10 years ago, connected eastern Nalanda district with western Sheikhpura district.

Authorities have stopped all vehicle movement on the bridge, and technical experts are now investigating the cause of the collapse and the quality of materials used during construction.
