India Holds 76 Days Oil Stock, No Fuel Crisis: Puri Assures

India is fully prepared to handle any global oil crisis, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said, assuring that there is no immediate fuel shortage risk in the country.

Speaking in an interview with CNN-News18, the minister revealed that India currently has oil reserves worth 76 to 80 days of consumption, including strategic petroleum reserves, refinery stocks, and commercial fuel storage.

No Fuel Crisis in India, Says Government

Puri clearly stated that despite global tensions in the oil market, India is safe and stable. He also emphasized that there are no fuel shortages in any part of the country, and supply remains smooth even during disruptions.

He further added that India is not only meeting its domestic demand but also continuing fuel exports.

Oil Prices Expected to Stabilize

The minister expressed confidence that global crude oil prices will not remain high for long. According to him, market conditions are expected to improve, helping bring prices down in the coming period.

India Ready Even If Key Oil Route is Closed

Puri also addressed concerns about the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil shipping route. He said India can still manage supply for 30–60 days even in extreme situations, thanks to strong reserves and diversified imports.

Diversified Oil Sources Strengthen India

The government is also expanding its oil import sources beyond the Gulf region. India is increasing energy partnerships with countries like Mozambique and the UAE to ensure long-term energy security.

Officials also confirmed discussions with global suppliers to secure additional LPG and crude oil shipments whenever needed.

Worst-Case Scenario Still Under Control

Even in extreme global conflict situations, the minister said India remains prepared. However, he warned that a long-lasting global disruption could impact the world economy significantly.
