Tragic Fire in Mangaf, Kuwait Claims 35 Lives

According to the state-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), a devastating fire occurred in the city of Mangaf , Southern district of Kuwait. Today, Wednesday, June 12th, in the early morning, a building caught fire, resulting in the tragic loss of 35 lives. The fire started in the early morning and spread rapidly, trapping many people inside.

Indian Victims Identified in Kuwait Fire Tragedy

According to reports from reliable sources, it is confirmed that among the 35 victims, five were from Kerala. Additionally, other reports indicate that more than four individuals who perished included two from Tamil Nadu and others from North India. Official confirmation from authorities is awaited to provide further details on the incident.

Kuwait Health Ministry Provides Medical Aid to Injured

The Kuwait Health Ministry issued a statement indicating that they have transported all injured individuals to nearby hospitals and are providing them with adequate treatment. Some patients remain in critical condition, but medical staff are working diligently to save their lives.

Fire Origins Point to Kitchen Incident in Kuwait Labour Camp

Some reports indicate that the incident was caused by a fire that started in the kitchen of a labour camp around 4:30 AM. Witnessing the fire in the building, many panicked, with some tragically losing their lives by jumping from apartments, while others died to burns or smoke inhalation.

Building in Kuwait Owned by Indian Businessman, KG Abraham

According to reports, the building housed approximately 195 laborers, including workers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and some Malayalis. It is reported that the building is owned by a Malayali businessman, KG Abraham, under the NBTC Group.

Indian Government Reacts to Kuwait Fire Tragedy

 “Deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait city. There are reportedly over 40 deaths and over 50 have been hospitalized. Our Ambassador has gone to the camp. We are awaiting further information,” Jaishankar posted on X.

“Deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. Wish early and full recovery to those who have been injured. Our Embassy will render the fullest assistance to all concerned in this regard,” he added.
