IndiGo Adds Fuel Surcharge to Flight Tickets Amid Soaring Oil Prices & Iran Tensions

As of March 14, 2026, IndiGo will commence its gradual addition of a fuel surcharge to all domestic and international flight tickets, after the worldwide aviation fuel prices soared under Iranian tension. 

Jet fuel (ATF) costs, which have jumped over 85% recently, is straining flight costs, the airline said. Rather than significantly increasing base fares, IndiGo implemented a smaller fuel surcharge which would have a much lesser effect on passengers.

IndiGo, India’s biggest airline with more than 400 planes and 135 global destinations, conducted flights for 124 million people in 2025. The airline said it would continue checking oil costs and will adjust any surcharges, as necessary.

Ticketmakers should check their tickets before they book, as now fuel charges are going to be levied separately, the airline said.
