New Delhi (India) February 11:At least 10 people, including the suspected shooter, were killed in a mass shooting at a school in northeastern British Columbia on Tuesday. The authorities said another 25 people were being assessed for injuries in the local medical centre. 

Carney's Devastated Statement

Prime Minister Mark Carney released a statement, expressing his support for the bereaved families.
“I am devastated by today's horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence," Carney said in a post on X.
"I join Canadians in grieving with those whose lives have been changed irreversibly today, and in gratitude for the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens," he added.

Modi's Solidarity and Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was shocked at the shooting in Canada, offered condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the injured to recover rapidly.
Modi said, "Deeply shocked by the horrendous shooting in Canada. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. India stands in solidarity with the people of Canada in this moment of profound grief” in a post on social media platform X.

Suspected Female Shooter Confirmed Dead by Self-Infliction

Six people were discovered dead at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in remote Tumbler Ridge, another was killed en route to hospital, the Canadian police said. They found two more people dead at a home, which police said was linked to the incident.
The suspected shooter was confirmed dead on Tuesday afternoon with what appears to be a self‑inflicted injury, the police said in a statement.
RCMP chief superintendent Ken Floyd, of the North District, said some 100 people, including staff and students, had been evacuated safely from the school. The shooting remains a mystery to the police, he said.

Shelter Order and Suspect Alert in Tumbler Ridge

Tumbler Ridge police gave a 2 pm warning after the attack at around 1.20 pm local time at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, which listed the suspect as a female dressed in a dress with brown hair, according to Globe and Mail.
Residents were advised to shelter in place, lock their doors, and not come out. The shelter-in-place order was lifted just a few hours later, allowing folks to resume their daily activities.
