He urged the Opposition members to take their seats so that a proper vote could take place, but with the uproar continuing, he ultimately sought the sense of the House, leading to the motion's rejection. The session was adjourned for the day following this development.

Amit Shah Slams Oppn for Attacking Speaker's Role

Earlier, Amit Shah had delivered a pointed critique of the Opposition, accusing them of undermining the very foundation of India’s democracy by proposing a no-confidence motion against the Speaker. He emphasized the importance of respect for the Lok Sabha Speaker's role, highlighting that the House functions on a basis of mutual trust built over decades.
Shah defended the Speaker's impartiality, asserting that he acts as a neutral custodian of the House.

"The Constitution has given the role of a mediator to the Speaker. You cast suspicion on the mediator. In 75 years, both Houses have strengthened the foundation of our democracy deeper than ‘paatal’. The opposition has questioned the reputation of that deep foundation," Shah said.

Shah Hits Back at Rahul Gandhi's Frequent Absences

He also addressed Rahul Gandhi's repeated criticisms of Om Birla, arguing that Gandhi is not adequately representing his constituents in Parliament and often misses opportunities to speak when allowed. Shah noted that Gandhi frequently travels abroad, including to countries like Germany and the UK, during these crucial times, despite his claims of being silenced in the House.
