Supriyo Bhattacharya, one of the prominent leaders of JMM, has strongly criticized the BJP. Supriyo raised questions on BJP’s methods of fighting elections and said that BJP works to divide the society. According to Supriyo, BJP’s intention of getting votes in Jharkhand by dividing people on the basis of caste and religion will be dashed.

What did Supriyo Bhattacharya Say?

JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that as soon as the elections come, BJP has started spewing poison to divide the society on the basis of caste and religion, but this will not work in Jharkhand, here respect and brotherhood among all castes and religions is paramount.

Supriyo Bhattacharya raised questions on the unopposed elections in Surat and alleged that it was under the legitimate pressure of the Chief Minister and State President of Gujrat that Surat’s District Magistrate canceled the nomination of other candidates. The same Chief Minister of Gujarat had reached Lohardaga on wednesday for the nomination of a BJP candidate.

Why was Raghuvar given the Governor post?

Supriya Bhattacharya took a dig at Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s claim that there is no evidence of corruption against three former BJP chief ministers Babulal Arjun Munda and Raghuvar Das. Opposing Rajnath Singh’s statement, the superiors said that if there was no problem with corruption then why was he made the governor. Obviously Supriyo was pointing here towards Raghuvar Das who has been made the Governor of Orissa. Supriyo did not take the name of Raghuvar Das but said that he was not yet of age to become the Governor and he was made the Governor only because he was accused of corruption.

Emergency was the darkest chapter of the country: BJP

BJP’s state spokesperson from Jharkhand, Pratul Shahdeo, replied to the Press Conference done by JMM and allegations made by Supriyo Bhattacharya. Pratul Shahdeo said, JMM who is enjoying staying in power with Congress which imposed dictatorship through emergency in the country, today sees dictatorship in the present central government. In reality, the darkest chapter of the country was the Emergency. People were kept in jail for years without any bill under the Nisha law. It was in the memory of this black law, that Lalu Prasad named his daughter Nisha. Today he is also with the INDI Alliance.

Dimple Yadav also won unopposed

Pratul further said that if the BJP candidate was elected unopposed from Surat, the opposition created a stir at that time, where was the morality of these parties when Dimple Yadav was elected unopposed from Kannauj in 2012. Two candidates standing against her had withdrawn their nominations on the last day. Apart from this, candidates have been elected unopposed in the Lok Sabha 44 times in the country.
