CJP Announces Sept 5 March Over ‘Failed’ Govt Promises

According to a statement released by the party after a key press meeting on Monday, the march will begin at India Gate and proceed towards the new Delhi Police Headquarters.

The protest, CJP said, will be led by families of deceased NEET victims and people who were allegedly subjected to police brutality during the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” march. Students, young citizens and youth organisations from across the country have also been called upon to join the demonstration.

CJP Says Government Failed to Honour July 25 Promises

The announcement came after the party's National Working Committee met to review what it described as the government's failure to fulfil commitments made on July 25.

CJP alleged that several promises made to the youth remain unfulfilled. These reportedly include assurances related to the withdrawal or quashing of FIRs registered against students and protesters, along with compensation for the families of deceased NEET victims.

The organisation claimed that it had paused its nationwide movement after trusting the assurances given by the government. However, it now alleges that the promised action has not been taken.

‘Government Is Playing Delay Games,’ CJP Alleges

In its statement, CJP accused the government of delaying action and avoiding clear commitments.

The organisation alleged that the government was hiding behind technical procedures instead of implementing the assurances made to protesters and young citizens.

CJP also referred to proceedings before the Supreme Court, claiming that the Union government had not provided a clear commitment regarding a list of FIRs registered against protesters across the country.

According to the party, the Supreme Court had asked the government on August 18 to provide details of FIRs so that the cases could potentially be considered together for quashing. CJP alleged that the government did not provide a clear assurance on the matter.

The group also said that a written assurance from the government was still awaited.

‘Good Faith Cannot Become a Chance for Betrayal’

CJP said its decision to temporarily withdraw the nationwide movement was made in good faith after the July 25 commitments.

However, the organisation warned that its patience should not be seen as weakness.

The party accused the government of attempting a “vishwasghaat”, or betrayal of trust, with Gen-Z, students and families who had lost their children.

CJP said that young people across the country had trusted the commitments made to them and returned home after the movement was withdrawn. It argued that the government must now honour those promises.

The September 5 protest is expected to focus on the demands related to FIRs against students and protesters, compensation for affected families and other commitments that CJP claims remain pending.

The organisation has appealed to students, young Indians, youth groups and student organisations to gather at India Gate and participate in the peaceful march.

According to CJP, families of deceased NEET victims and alleged victims of police brutality will lead the demonstration.

The group said the planned protest is aimed at demanding that the government honour its commitments “in letter and spirit.”

With the September 5 march announced, the issue is once again expected to bring attention to the concerns raised by students and families following the NEET-related protests and the July 20 Sansad Chalo march.
