Smt. Veena Kumari Appointed Secretary – Women’s Wing of National Bharat Sevak Samaj

New Delhi: The National Bharat Sevak Samaj (Bharat Sevak Samaj) has announced the appointment and active role of Smt. Veena Kumari as Secretary of the Women’s Wing, with responsibility for strengthening women’s participation in social-service, community-development and welfare-oriented programmes across the country.

The Bharat Sevak Samaj was established in 1952 in association with the Planning Commission of the Government of India as a nationwide, non-official and non-political voluntary organisation intended to encourage public participation in national development programmes. Historical Government and Nehru Archive records confirm its establishment in 1952 and its non-political, voluntary character.

The organisation was closely associated with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru during its formative period. Nehru served as Chairman of its National Advisory Committee and subsequently as its President, while Shri Gulzarilal Nanda was among the prominent leaders associated with the organisation and its development.
