Rajpal Yadav on Baby John's box-office collection In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rajpal Yadav described Baby John as a "well-made film in every way" but admitted its fate was affected by being a remake of the Tamil film Theri. Rajpal explained: “If this wasn’t a remake, then this would have been the most well-made film of my 25-year career. But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it, and because it was a remake, it affected the box office of the film.” Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, Baby John was a remake of Atlee's Tamil film Theri, starring Vijay in the lead role. The film, featuring Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff alongside Varun, managed to earn less than ₹50 crore at the domestic box office, despite having a budget exceeding ₹180 crore.             View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Jio Studios (@officialjiostudios) On Varun Dhawan’s reaction to the failure When asked if Varun was "depressed" about the film’s underperformance, Rajpal denied it, saying: “Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking.
