In a ‘Kanhaiya Lal’-like case, A serious altercation between two students in Udaipur has led to heightened tensions and violence in the city. Section 144 has been imposed, restricting public gatherings after the fight resulted in one student being seriously injured.

Student Attacks Another With Knife Amid Fight

The incident occurred when two Class 10 students from a government school clashed with one another in the Surajpol police station area. The altercation reportedly occurred over a personal dispute and later escalated when one student attacked the other with a knife. The injured student, identified as Devraj, sustained major injuries and was rushed to the MB Hospital for treatment. A deep knife wound on the student’s thigh was discovered.

Protests Erupt Over Muslim Student Attacking Hindu Student

As news of the incident spread, members of a Hindu organization gathered outside the hospital upon learning that the accused was a Muslim, leading to further unrest. The protesters then moved to the Chetak circle where they closed several shops and shouted slogans. The police intervened to control the situation and managed to calm the protesters, restoring order in the disturbed area.

District Collector’s Statement

District Collector Arvind Poswal addressed the public, urging them to ignore rumors and false information. He assured that the injured student’s condition is stable, and he remains in the ICU. Poswal confirmed that the police have arrested the student responsible for the injurious attack, along with his father. He also suggested that a thorough investigation is underway.

Internet Services Shut In Udaipur, Stone-Pelting Reported

In response to the escalating violence, internet services in Udaipur were suspended for 24 hours to prevent the spread of misinformation. The administration also enforced prohibitory orders to ban public gatherings. Despite these measures, the unrest led to stone-pelting in many areas of the city, damaging several vehicles and a shopping mall. By the evening, markets in Bapu Bazar, Hathipole, Ghanta Ghar, and Chetak Circle had also been closed.

Strong Police Presence In The City

The situation has prompted a strong police presence throughout the city. Divisional Commissioner Rajendra Bhatt, along with other officials including Collector Poswal, SP Yogesh Goyal, and local MPs, held meetings to address the crisis. The administration is working to calm the situation and ensure public safety while urging residents to stay informed through reliable sources and avoid contributing to the unrest.
