“A Hard Goodbye With My Only Wish…”

‘A painful goodbye with my only wish…’: Matheesha Pathirana’s heartfelt post for CSK and MS Dhoni The pacer for the Chennai Super Kings, Matheesha Pathirana, appears to be heading back to Sri Lanka after the current IPL season.

The current IPL season has abruptly ended for bowler Matheesha Pathirana of the Chennai Super Kings, as he returns to Sri Lanka to recuperate from a hamstring injury.

During the IPL season, the right-arm fast bowler participated in six games and claimed 13 wickets at an economy rate of 7.68.

In his final match for CSK, Pathirana bowled two overs and got rid of Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs.

England pacer Richard Gleeson replaced him during the May 1 encounter against Punjab Kings in Chennai, as he was not available.

CSK has suffered a serious loss with Pathirana out of the lineup, as their alternatives for bowling have drastically reduced in recent days.

The Sri Lankan speedster posted a number of pictures with MS Dhoni and other CSK colleagues on Monday, along with a heartfelt message.

“With a heavy heart, I bid you farewell and hope to see the 2024 IPL champion trophy in CSK’s room soon! I’m thankful to the CSK team for all of Chennai’s blessings and affection. – #matheeshapathirana,” responded Pathirana.

All-rounder Deepak Chahar, who bowls with pace, is also anticipated to miss the rest of the IPL after getting a niggle during the Punjab encounter at Chepauk.

After bowling just two deliveries, Chahar departed the field, and Shardul Thakur finished the over in his place.

Maheesh Theekshana, a spinner from Sri Lanka, will also be absent from CSK for a few more games as he is scheduled to travel home to finish the process of obtaining a USA visa in advance of the T20 World Cup in the Americas next month.

After the most recent game against PBKS, Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL career came to an end as well when he was called up to the national team for the home T20I series against Zimbabwe.
