Yuvraj Goyal, a 28-year-old man from Ludhiana, Punjab, was shot and killed in Surrey, Canada, on Friday. He had moved to Canada in 2019 on a student visa and had just received his Permanent Resident (PR) status.
His Life in Canada
Yuvraj was working as a sales executive and had no criminal record. He had completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Delhi University before moving to Canada. He came from a decent family his father, Rajesh Goyal, runs a firewood business, and his mother, Shakun Goyal, is a homemaker.
The Incident
Police believe this was a targeted shooting, though they are still investigating the reasons behind Yuvraj's killing. Four suspects have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. They are 23-year-old Manvir Basram from Surrey, 20-year-old Sahib Basra from Surrey, 23-year-old Harkirat Jhutty from Surrey and 20-year-old Keilon Francois from Ontario.
Ongoing Investigation
Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of Canada's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said they are grateful for the hard work of the Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and IERT. However, more work is remaining that is left be determine why Yuvraj was targeted. The investigation continues as they seek to uncover the motive behind this tragic incident.
