Three Andhra Pilgrims Die After Bus Rams Truck in Bihar

A tragic road accident in Bihar’s Aurangabad district claimed the lives of three pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh and left 18 others injured on Sunday. According to police, the accident happened when the driver of a speeding bus reportedly fell asleep and crashed into a parked truck loaded with iron rods on National Highway 19.

The bus was carrying pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh when it hit the truck near a roadside eatery under the Aurangabad Mufassil police station area. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus was badly damaged.

Police identified the deceased as Chavadam Hajratya Theta (50), Padma (43), and Pulleti Venkateshwarulu (64), all residents of Sangam village in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district. Two of the victims were women.

18 Injured, Eight Women in Critical Condition

Local residents rushed to help rescue passengers trapped inside the damaged bus. All 18 injured passengers were taken to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Officials said that eight women suffered serious injuries and were later shifted to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital in Gaya for advanced medical care.

Police have seized both the bus and the truck and registered a case to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.

Another Deadly Bihar Accident Kills Four

In a separate incident that occurred around midnight in Arwal district, four men lost their lives after a speeding car plunged into a canal.

According to police, five people were travelling from Arwal to Patna when the driver lost control of the vehicle near Gandhi Maidan on the Arwal-Patna Canal Road. The car fell into a canal, trapping the passengers inside.

Locals said the vehicle’s doors and windows became jammed due to water pressure, making rescue efforts difficult. The driver, identified as Rohit, was eventually rescued after locals broke a car window. He was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Rishank Raj (23), Manoj Kumar (36), Rahul Kumar (30), and Aman Kumar (28), all residents of Bihta in Patna district.

Police Investigation Underway

The bodies of the victims have been sent for postmortem examination, and police have registered cases in both accidents. Authorities are investigating the exact causes of the crashes.

The twin tragedies have once again raised concerns over speeding, driver fatigue, and road safety on Bihar’s highways.
