Robbery Angle And Son’s Statement
Police said money was stolen from the shop after the murder. Susen Sarkar’s son Sujan Sarkar told local media that several hundred thousand taka were missing. He said his father had no enemies & the family had been in the rice business for many years. Sujan asked a simple question. Why would anyone kill an old trader with no disputes? People in the market echoed this question. Some shopkeepers said robbery could be the motive. Others felt fear because the crime looked planned. Minority Attacks And Troubled History
This killing happened just three days before Bangladesh’s general elections on February 12. The timing raised concern. Attacks on minorities have increased in recent months. Dipu Chandra Das was killed by a mob in Mymensingh in December last year & he was accused of blasphemy. Earlier in January, Hindu businessman Rana Pratap Bairagi was shot dead in Jessore. Another Hindu shopkeeper was killed in Narsingdi within a day. Bangladesh has a history of minority fear during political unrest. Many Hindu families have faced such violence for decades.

News of the killing spread fast on social media. Many users asked why minorities are unsafe before elections. Some said criminals feel bold during political tension. Others questioned the law and order situation. India also reacted strongly to recent attacks. The Indian government urged Bangladesh to act firmly. Officials said such crimes should not be explained away as personal issues. People online debated if justice will come. Some asked if elections increase fear for minorities. The killing of Susen Sarkar has added to growing worry. The silence after the crime speaks louder than words.
