New Delhi (India) February 20:Speaking at theAI Impact Summit in the country's capital, Wang emphasized the need for government and industry to collaborate to deliver the four building blocks of artificial intelligence, talent, energy, data and compute, and to develop and deploy AI that serves the citizens and economies.
“I don’t want these amazing technologies to be one-size-fits-all. I want them to serve your needs, designed for the challenges and opportunities that are unique to India, to societies across the Global South and all over the world,” Wang said.
India’s Tech Intelligence: Powering Global AI Revolution
India, according to Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, has been critical, noting that it is one of the few countries where personal superintelligence can be scaled very quickly. Wang also provided the company’s plans and commended India’s tech talent, claiming that India is no longer merely a consumer of technology but a dominant force in the AI startup ecosystem.
“India is one of the most important countries for Meta, full stop. It's one of the few countries where we could scale personal superintelligence very fast... There are more Indian consumer AI companies than there are American consumer AI companies,” he said.
Meta's New AI: Personalized Superintelligence Ahead
In his speech, Wang talked about a new AI model Meta is about to launch over the next few months. These models won’t come down to “one-size-fits-all” answers.
“These will be deeply integrated with our products in a way we’re really excited about. We’re optimistic about the trajectory we’re on. The first models will be good, and as the year goes on I think we’re going to be pushing the frontier. Our vision is personal superintelligence – AI that knows you, your goals, your interests, and helps you with whatever you’re focused on doing. It serves you, whoever you are, wherever you are,” he said.
AI Assistants: Health Plans, Projects & Hobbies
Wang portrayed AI assistants that could help people to manage busy lives by drafting personalised health plans on things like diet, exercise and sleep, tracking the accomplishments of projects personal and professional work through tracking, planning events invites and offering reminders.
These kinds of systems, he said, could also allow you to take up hobbies such as fishing or painting, schedule travel, and become more active in your communities by freeing up time and mental bandwidth.
“Say you want to be healthier, your personal AI can help you see through a personal health plan covering diet, exercise and sleep and your daily routine, or you have a project you’d like to get done, like putting on an event, you can track your progress, reach out to venues, arrange invites, remind you of things you haven’t considered. And more. If you’d love to go fishing or paint or want to travel more, it can help free you up so you can do more of these things. I mean, give you advice when you need it, and or help you show up as a better friend or in your community,” he said.
