New Delhi (India) May 9: A remarkable knock from Finn Allen led the Kolkata Knight Riders towards an 8-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2026 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Friday.
Spin Collapses Delhi's Batting Order
Sent into bat first, the DC saw KL Rahul getting out within the powerplay but Pathum Nissanka held the innings together with his 2nd fifty of the IPL 2026.
It was however KKR's spin duo that stifled the middle order of Delhi Capitals as the they collapsed from 74/1 from to 89/5.Left arm spinner Anukul Roy being the chief destroyer of the Capitals, taking wickets of Nissanka and Tristan Stubbs in an over of just 5 deliveries. One wicket each was taken by Sunil Narine, Cameron Green and Vaibhav Arora and despite a brave 39 from Ashutosh Sharma, the Delhi Capitals did not reach 150 runs.
Finn Allen Leads Chase with Century
The chase got underway with a slow start as skipper Ajinkya Rahane got run out before Angkrish Raghuvanshi was unlucky after the ball ricocheted from the glove to the stumps. However this was not enough as the Impact substitute Finn Allen took over the match from here. A violent assault on the Delhi attack saw Allen smash 10 sixes and 5 fours in his match-winning century of 47 deliveries, the openers maiden T20 hundred. Green played an important support role and the chase was completed in just 14.2 overs as the Knights recorded their 4th straight victory to get back in the playoff race.
Rahane Credits Bowlers and Fielders for Win
Kolkata Knight Riders Skipper Ajinkya Rahane said, “First of all, let me just say I'm really happy for Finn Allen. He was struggling first four or five games, working really hard, but the way he batted tonight was fantastic. But I want to praise our bowlers again. We did well because of them. And they've been doing it so well consistently, especially those middle overs and the death overs. Our spinners, Sunil Narine, Varun and Anukul Roy, has been fantastic. Fielding-wise, yes, we are working really hard. Our fielding coach has been really strict with us. And that's what has been helping us. The result which you've been seeing about the catches and the ground fielding, credit goes to our fielding coach as well,” regarding the match win.
