Vijay Announces New Support Measures for MLAs

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced new financial and logistical support measures for MLAs to solve public issues more effectively in their constituencies.

In the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday under Rule 110, Vijay announced that government vehicles would be made available to all MLAs. He also announced a monthly vehicle allowance of ₹75,000 and an additional ₹25,000 monthly assistant allowance for office-related work.

Together, the two monthly allowances will provide MLAs with ₹1 lakh in financial support every month, apart from the government vehicle facility.

₹75,000 Vehicle Allowance for MLAs

According to the plan, MLAs will be given a monthly vehicle allowance of ₹75,000. Government vehicles will also be available for elected representatives to travel across their constituencies.

The government said it was for MLAs to take a proactive approach to public grievances and also to work as constituency workers in a more efficient manner in relation to constituency work.

₹25,000 Assistant Allowance for Office Work

Vijay has also announced a monthly allowance of ₹25,000 for assistants to support office work.

In turn, the combined support is expected to help MLAs to better handle administrative work and to remain connected to the people that they serve.

Aavin Milk Procurement Price Hiked to ₹41

In another great announcement, Vijay said the procurement price of Aavin milk will be increased from ₹38 to ₹41 per litre.
The new price includes a ₹3 per litre government incentive and is aimed at improving the income and livelihood of milk producers associated with the state-owned Aavin cooperative network.

Vijay said the decision was taken despite the state’s financial challenges, in the name of the welfare of milk producers and the need to provide them with a fair price for their milk.

Over 3.16 lakh milk producers to benefit from this.

The price hike of Aavin procurement is expected to benefit more than 3.16 lakh milk producers in Tamil Nadu.

The state government will bear an additional expenditure of about ₹30 crore every month due to the increase.

The move is likely to provide additional financial support to dairy farmers and milk producers who supply milk through primary milk cooperative societies linked to Aavin.

Vijay's ₹755.83 Crore Gold Ring Scheme

The latest announcement comes a couple of days after Vijay's Independence Day speech from Fort St George in Chennai.
