On the eleventh day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalguna, people celebrate Vijaya Ekadashi. Everything you need to know about muhurat and traditions.

Vijay ekadashi

The Hindu calendar dates Vijaya Ekadashi to the eleventh day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalguna. It is also known as Phalguna Krishna Ekadashi and typically occurs in February or March each year. Anyone who observes this day-long fast is blessed with success and victory in all of their endeavours, as the term Vijaya implies victory. For Hindus, the eleventh day of the lunar calendar, or Ekadashi, is auspicious and falls twice a month during the festivals of Krishna Praksha and Shukla Paksha. For followers of Vishnu, who either fast with food and drink (nirjala) or follow a sattvik and vrat-friendly diet that aids in mental and physical purification, it is an extremely significant fast.
This year, on March 6, Wednesday, is Vijaya Ekadashi. The fast is held twice a month on Ekadashi, which is observed 24 times a year.

What Vijaya Ekadashi means

The whole point of Vijaya Ekadashi is to triumph over adversaries and foes, and those who observe this auspicious fast are unstoppable until their objective is accomplished. The Puranic literature also makes reference to the Vijaya Ekadashi fast, which is supposed to have helped numerous ancient rulers emerge victorious from bloody conflicts. With great speed, one can overcome even the most difficult battles. It is thought that this fast can be used to accomplish seemingly insurmountable objectives. Fasting during this time can also aid in the atonement of sins and suffering.

Pooja procedure

One day before Ekadashi, place a pot made of gold, silver, copper, or new clay in your puja area on top of a mound of seven different grains (wheat, rice, barley, corn, chickpeas, etc.). Once the pot is filled with water and decorated with mango leaves, cover it. Offering flowers, sadalwood paste, a ghee diya, and naivedyam are ways to honor the pot.
On top of the pot is a gilded statue of Lord Vishnu.

On Ekadashi, when the sun rises, replace the flowers, sandalwood paste, and other puja samagri and worship the pot once more after taking a bath.
The pot needs to be transported to a river bank or other body of water and worshipped once again on Dwadashi, which is the day after Vijaya Ekadashi. Next, it needs to be presented to a Brahmin.
Worship Lord Vishnu and remember him throughout all of the Vijaya Ekadashi rites.
