Early Life
Srikanth Bolla was born on 7 July 1991 into a Telugu speaking family in Seetharamapuram, Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The first child, he was visually impaired from birth, and his family was mainly dependent on farming. His childhood was full of struggle, there was no electricity, education was a luxury, and his family income was less than what was needed to survive.
Education
Bolla, a blind Indian student, pursued science after matriculating in 10th Grade. After a six-month wait, he was allowed to pursue science at his own risk. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology becoming the first international blind student. Bolla has been a youth leader since 2005 and is a member of Lead India 2020, a movement aiming to eradicate poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment in India.
Career
In 2011, Bolla co-founded Samanvai Center for Children with Multiple Disabilities, providing educational, vocational, financial, and rehabilitation services to students with multiple disabilities. In 2012, he founded Bollant Industries, manufacturing eco-friendly products and providing employment to disabled individuals. Bollant has shown exceptional growth, with a turnover of ₹ 150 cr in 2018. Srikanth is the director of Surge Impact Foundation, aiming to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
