Early Life OF Suman Kalyanpur

Suman Kalyanpur was born Suman Hemmadi, born 28 January 1937 in Dhaka. At that time, Dhaka was a part of British India. And now, Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. She came from a family that had a love for art and music. Her family was very encouraging of her. They urged Suman Kalyanpur to learn and follow her nose for whatever it was she loved. Her father, Shankar Rao Hemmadi, worked at the Central Bank of India. Suman Kalyanpur shifted from place to place when she was a child because of his job. The Suman Kalyanpurs family settled in 1943 in Mumbai, India. That change of course changed Suman Kalyanpurs life forever. Mumbai was the heart of Suman Kalyanpurs career as an artist. She grew up in Mumbai. Loved art and music. St. Columba High School was where Suman Kalyanpur studied. Then she joined the Sir J. J. School of Arts in a painting class. Suman Kalyanpur liked painting; music also became a major part of her life. Suman Kalyanpur was good at music, so her family supported her decision to study music. Pandit Keshav Rao Bhole and Ustad Khan Abdul Rehman Khan and Master Navrang were among the teachers who helped Suman Kalyanpur sing well. They assisted Suman Kalyanpur to sing well. Suman Kalyanpur practiced every day! She became excellent at singing. Her voice was sweet and nice to listen to. India loved Suman Kalyanpurs voice.  

Death and Legacy

Suman Kalyanpur died on 31 May 2026 at home in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. She was 89 years old. Due to her age Suman Kalyanpur had also some health problems.
