For a long time, Bollywood has been involved in a hard-to-handle relationship with on-screen intimate scenes. The suggestive glances and the intimate dances were common but the passionate kisses were mostly kept in the dream sequence or the camera angles were played smartly. Yet, the winds of change are prevailing now. A new group of filmmakers and actors have started breaking down old conventions and eradicating censure on-screen kissing, seeing it as a part of human expression of love, desire, heartbreak and complexities of human relationships.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in “Brahmastra” (2023):

The movie, a fantasy which was highly anticipated, shows a powerful kiss between two leading actors of real life. It wasn’t just a flash in the pan though; the kiss was as pivotal as it was heartwarming and set them on a course which foreshadowed the challenges ahead.

Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi in “Gehraiyaan” (2022):

This remarkable drama delves deep into the confusing world of current love. Depika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi were showing a very attractive series of kisses during the film. Of course, the intensity and passion of their characters’ connection were involved in it. The desperation, possession and the short-lived expressions of tenderness were all evident in these intimate scenes.

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in “Shershaah” (2021):

This biographical war drama took us through the romance of Captain Vikram Batra and his fiancee, Dimple Cheema. Contrary to the movie’s fast-paced action scenes, the screen kiss between the lead actors was full of gentleness and passion. It underscored the depth of their bond and the contrast of the war and the imminent death against it.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” (2021):

This revolutionized story reshaped the movie-watching experience by using a same-sex kiss to be kissing between the two main actors. The film was a milestone for LGBTQ+ representation and stirred up the general discussion about acceptance in commercial Bollywood which, in the context, is nothing new.

Though old theme the movie was quite an event. The searing kiss between Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the climax set the audience wondering about on-screen intimacy changing the accepted norms, and they didn’t look back from here.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” (2013):

The teenage adventure movie had entrenched into the national consciousness the scene of two young lovers kissing against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Yet, the gentle and blissfulness of such a kiss symbolled that the moment has captured both innocence and youth.

Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in “Raabta” (2017):

This film revolved around reincarnation drama and was built on a passionate kiss of its lovers that was against the social norms. It created an impossible barrier of time and cultural intercession, finding response in hearts of people who were longing to see love in its most authentic way.

Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in “Half Girlfriend” (2017):

This cast-off among-caste love story unfolded with a profound kiss which represented the rejection of social constraints. it was not a dramatic gesture, but a short sweet and tender time of expressing the characters hearts dedication to loving each other in the face of social disapproval.

Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani in “Baaghi 2” (2018):

Unlike the first part of the duo, this sequel delighted audiences with the vivid kiss in the rain which, in addition to the incredible stunts, added a romantic touch to the narrative. It was an instance of lonely looming in the midst of disorder, demonstrating that love conquers all, event during the most difficult experiences.

Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in “Love Aaj Kal 2” (2020):

This futuristic rendition of love came with a sequence of passionate and humorous smooches. Every kiss mirrored the characters’ whimsical, and love at first sight kind of attitude.
