Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman recently appeared together on season 8 of Koffee with Karan Neetu and Zeenat were frank about their personal lives and spoke kindly of their peers, such as Hema Malini and Rekha. Neetu also mentioned that Jaya Bachchan is a beautiful person in response to her repeated run-ins with the media.
When Rishi Kapoor restricted Neetu Kapoor to go out at night
Neetu Kapoor revealed a startling fact about her late husband, actor Rishi Kapoor. During her appearance on Koffee with Karan 8, the actress looked back at their relationship with Rishi. Neetu claimed to Karan that Rishi was a “strict boyfriend” who forbade her from going out to clubs. Neetu Kapoor talked candidly about her relationship with Rishi Kapoor. She disclosed that he had certain limitations for her. She recalled their late-night gatherings during their filming sessions with Yash Chopra. But she never went out to party heavily because Rishi would put limits on it. “We had a fabulous time, especially with Yash ji (Chopra). We would party in the night, play antakshari, play dumb charades. So, that was like one picnic. That was really-really fun. But I had this Rishi Kapoor as my boyfriend. So, I never partied-partied. Because he was always like, yeh nahi karna, woh nahi karna, ghar aajao. So, I’ve never seen that wild side of partying in those days,” Neetu Kapoor said. “I was committed and I had a very strict mother and a very strict boyfriend. So, I was torn between both of them,” she added.
Rishi and Neetu’s marriage
Before getting engaged to Rishi on April 13, 1979, Neetu dated him for a while. They eventually tied the wedding on January 22, 1980. After her wedding, Neetu stopped acting. Neetu had to give up performing once the couple’s two children, son Ranbir Kapoor and daughter Riddhima, were born.
After receiving a leukemia diagnosis, Rishi fought the illness for two years. Neetu and Ranbir were with him in New York where he received medical attention. Alia Bhatt, who is currently wed to Ranbir, used to frequently visit them as well. The three of them went back to India in 2019, but in April 2020, after being taken to a hospital in Mumbai, Rishi passed suddenly. On the broadcast, Neetu also talked candidly about his later years, describing them as some of her most treasured memories.
Karan also asked about her friendship with Rekha
During a segment, Karan asked about their friendship with Rekha. Neetu took a trip down memory lane and said, “I really don’t know how it started. She was just a very friendly person. She is a very sweet and warm person. She would just drop by without informing me. So she was just like one of those girls, and she was very funny. She would do a lot of mimicry.” Zeenat agreed with Neetu and said, “She came to my home on Nepean Sea Road.”
