RCB Beats MI by 18 Runs in High-Scoring Wankhede Thriller on Sunday

Salt , Kohli and Patidar Lead RCB

Patidar showcased his leadership and batting skills, scoring an explosive 53 off just 20 balls. While Kohli managed to contribute with a steady 50 runs off 38 balls, it was Salt's impressive 70 off 36 that really set the tone for RCB's innings. Tim David also played a crucial role, finishing strong with an unbeaten 34 runs from 16 balls. On the bowling front, Suyash Sharma was instrumental for RCB, claiming two key wickets for 47 runs, including a double strike in the eighth over that left MI struggling to recover. 

Rutherford's 71 Not Enough for Mumbai

Sherfane Rutherford shone for the Mumbai Indians, scoring a commendable 71 off 31 balls. However, the team faced challenges, with opener Rohit Sharma retiring injured after scoring 19 due to a hamstring issue. Ryan Rickelton contributed 37 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav (33) and Hardik Pandya (40) added valuable runs, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. 

Hardik: Need to Rethink Strategy Now

Hardik Pandya, MI captain said, “Yes (lost too many wickets) and at the same point of time, I think we conceded way too many (runs) as well. I think that was always going to be catch-up. I think in the last couple of games, as a bowling unit or even as a batting unit, we’ve been catching up in the game rather than leading the game. We really need to reflect, really need to see what best we can do and how we can get that momentum and that click which we require. We have a couple of days off from here and we will play again. To be very honest, now a lot of things need to be rethought. Definitely, it’s not working. A couple of games we have won the toss, but maybe we need to see what other options we have as a batting group or bowling group” regarding the loss.
