Passenger Arrested for Misconduct on Mumbai-Delhi Air India Flight

26 June 2023, Mumbai: A male passenger traveling on an Air India flight from Mumbai to Delhi has been arrested for engaging in disruptive behavior, including defecation, urination, and spitting inside the aircraft. The incident occurred on June 24, 2023, on Air India Flight AIC 866 (AI-866), with the passenger seated on row 9, seat 17F.

According to the FIR filed by the flight captain at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport police station, the cabin crew noticed the misconduct and issued a verbal warning through the cabin supervisor. The flight captain was subsequently informed about the incident. Fellow passengers were reportedly upset by the behavior, and upon landing at the Delhi airport, the accused passenger was escorted by the head of Air India security to the IGI Airport police station.

The flight captain immediately notified the company, and airport security was requested to assist upon the passenger’s arrival. The accused, a cook from Africa, was traveling on the Air India flight AIC 866 on June 24.

A senior official from the Delhi Police stated that a case was registered at the IGI police station under section 294/510, based on the flight captain’s complaint. The accused passenger was arrested, produced before a court, and subsequently granted bail. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Air India’s Flight AI866 operates on a daily basis from Mumbai to Delhi. The flight departs from Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 9 AM and arrives at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11.10 AM. The airline utilizes an Airbus A321 aircraft for this particular flight.
