In a mass shooting at a daycare centre on Thursday in Thailand, a former policeman killed 34 people before shooting himself to death, according to the police. He also killed his wife and child.

Children as young as 2 years old were among those killed in a shooting at a daycare centre in Thailand, according to a local police officer on Thursday.

22 children were among those killed by the alleged gunman. When the shooter entered the centre about lunchtime, there were about 30 kids there, according to district administrator Jidapa Boonsom, who spoke to Reuters.

Thai Rath TV was also informed by Chakkraphat Wichitvaidya, the Na Klang police station superintendent, that the shooter had been let off from the force a year prior.

A teacher who was eight months pregnant was among the four or five employees the perpetrator initially shot, according to Jidapa.

Despite the high percentage of gun ownership relative to certain other nations in the region and the prevalence of illegal firearms, mass shootings are uncommon in Thailand.

In a four-location shooting spree in 2020, a soldier enraged over a property deal gone bad killed at least 29 individuals and injured 57 more.
