New Delhi (India) June 5: The CBSE has moved the Delhi Police after a number of 'coordinated and sophisticated cyber attacks' were carried out on its post-result services portal used by lakhs of students for verification and re-evaluation applications after the declaration of the Class 12 board exams.

"The portal, launched on 2nd June 2026 to facilitate services such as verification and re-evaluation of answer scripts for candidates who had appeared in the XII Board Examination, was subjected to repeated and coordinated cyber attacks over the past three days. The attacks involved large volumes of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses within and outside the country," CBSE said.

 CBSE Approaches Delhi Police over Breach

According to a press release from the Board, a formal complaint was submitted to the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police.

Delhi Police registered an FIR on Friday following the CBSE complaint and officials said that the FIR was registered under Section 66 read with Section 43 (f) of the IT Act and an investigation has been initiated to nab the culprits behind the attack. 

Agencies Help CBSE Block Cyber Threats

The portal which was launched on June 2 to verify results and also apply for verification of marks and re-evaluation is being used by several lakhs of students and faced repeated cyber attacks in the last three days from numerous Indian and overseas IPs. 

CBSE stated that its technical teams were on a round-the-clock surveillance and were taking preventive measures to ensure uninterrupted services. It said that with the support of cybersecurity teams of IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, Digital India Corporation, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), CERT-In and various Central Government agencies the attacks were thwarted and stopped. 

OSM System Faces Scrutiny Claims

CBSE has also come under criticism in recent days from many class 12 students who have alleged that their scanned copies uploaded by the board did not match their handwriting, which put the OSM system under question, and there may have been mismatches in the OSM system, on Tuesday Cabinet Secretariat approved the formation of a one-member committee to investigate the procurement of services for the OSM system by the CBSE.
