30 June 2023, Mumbai : Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has set the stage for another uproarious comedy extravaganza as he officially announced the fifth instalment of the popular ‘Housefull’ franchise. Titled ‘Housefull 5’, the film promises to deliver “five times the madness” that fans have come to love. Akshay took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his followers, revealing that the film will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

In his Instagram post, Akshay Kumar shared a vibrant poster of ‘Housefull 5’ featuring himself and the returning fan-favorite, Riteish Deshmukh. The rest of the cast is yet to be revealed, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the announcement. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release around Diwali next year, adding a touch of festivity to the much-anticipated comedy.

Responding to the announcement, fans flooded Akshay Kumar’s social media accounts with excitement and anticipation for ‘Housefull 5’. Many fans also inquired about the status of another beloved comedy franchise, ‘Hera Pheri 3’, expressing their eagerness to see the iconic trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal reunite on-screen once again.

Akshay Kumar has been widely acknowledged as the “Comedy King” for his impeccable comic timing, and fans were quick to laud his return to the genre. One fan even suggested the inclusion of Kartik Aaryan in ‘Housefull 5’, adding to the already high expectations for the upcoming film.

The ‘Housefull’ franchise has enjoyed immense popularity since its inception. The first two instalments, released in 2010 and 2012 respectively, were directed by Sajid Khan, while the third part, released in 2016, was helmed by Sajid-Farhad. The fourth instalment, which hit theatres in 2019, was directed solely by Farhad Samji. Each film introduced a fresh ensemble cast, with Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh being the constants throughout.

‘Housefull’ (2010) featured a star-studded cast including Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan, Boman Irani, and Chunky Pandey. ‘Housefull 2’ (2012) saw the addition of John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, and the late Rishi Kapoor. ‘Housefull 3’ (2016) welcomed Abhishek Bachchan along with Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Lisa Haydon. ‘Housefull 4’ (2019) brought in a fresh set of actors such as Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde, and Kriti Kharbanda.

Aside from ‘Housefull 5’, Akshay Kumar has an exciting lineup of films in the works. Following his recent comedy film ‘Selfiee’, which did not resonate with audiences, the versatile actor is set to star in ‘OMG-Oh My God 2’, a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2012 film. He will also appear in the upcoming action thriller ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, alongside Tiger Shroff and Sonakshi Sinha.
