28th June 2023, Mumbai: In their era, Dharmendra and Hema Malini were considered Bollywood’s power couple. They had a wonderful life together despite their unusual marriage. The ideal girl of Bollywood was wedded despite the fact that she was already married to Dharmendra, defying her parents’ wishes for her to wed Jeetendra. Yes, their family did not consent to their marriage, which is why Dharmendra, who was intoxicated, intervened. The marriage of Dharmendra and Hema Malini is a lavish production.
When Dharmendra moved to Mumbai and was already wed to Prakash Kaur, he fell in love with Hema Malini. She was persuaded to wed Jeetendra, a fellow actor, by her mother Jaya Chakravathy, according to her autobiography Hema Malini: Beyond The Dream Girl.
Even the family of Hema and Jeenendra had flown to Chennai for a covert nuptial. When Dharam paaji learned of this, he and Shobha Kapoor, then-girlfriend of Jeetendra and now his wife, travelled to Chennai.
Upon repeatedly being asked to leave Dharmendra, who was intoxicated at the time, declined to go. He was eventually given permission to speak with Hema alone. According to the book, “the two were experiencing a catastrophic emotional upheaval within the room. Dharmendra began pleading with Hema not to make such a ‘big mistake’,as he was devastated and on the edge of breaking down.” However, outside, Shobha was the one to add to her fire when Jeetendra casually informed her of his desire to marry Hema.
The autobiography claims that everyone eagerly awaited to learn what transpired during Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s conversation. The actress gave a subdued headshake as a silent protest against the Jeetendra wedding. Jeetendra felt insulted by her marriage to Dharmendra and ‘stormed out of the house with his parents.’ Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and two daughters are among Dharmendra’s four children from his first marriage to Prabhas Kaur. Esha and Ahana Deol, children he had with his second marriage, were a blessing. Hema Malini continues to keep her husband’s first family at a distant.
