26 August 2023, Mumbai: On its opening day, “Dream Girl 2,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana as Pooja/Karam and Ananya Panday as Pari, managed to collect an impressive amount of Rs 9.70 crore in India, according to early estimates. The film, which released on August 25, is the sequel to the successful “Dream Girl” from 2019 and is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, the comedy flick has garnered mixed reviews from both critics and the audience. Ayushmann Khurrana’s portrayal of Pooja is being well-received.

Dream Girl 2 Box Office Collection

The film’s opening day collections were significantly contributed to by the three national cinema chains—PVR, Cinepolis, and INOX, which accounted for around 60% of the total collection, amounting to approximately Rs 5.35 crore. “Dream Girl 2” faces competition from the historical successes of “Gadar 2” and “Jailer,” with Sunny Deol’s film earning around Rs 35 crore and Rajinikanth’s film collecting nearly Rs 44.50 crore on their respective opening days. Notably, “Gadar 2” also became Bollywood’s biggest opener of 2023 after “Pathaan.”

Competition from SRK’s Jawan

However, maintaining its position at the box office might be challenging for “Dream Girl 2,” considering that Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” is scheduled to release on September 7, 2023. Despite this, the film’s advance bookings indicate a promising start, with 26,550 tickets sold in advance bookings for its first day across national cinema chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis.

With the help of his father, Karam enters into a marriage with a wealthy man’s son, leading to chaotic and comedic situations. The film also features actors like Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa in significant roles
