6th October 2023, Mumbai: In a recent Instagram post, the jane tu yaa jane naa actor imran khan talked about how the producers used to tell him to increase his weight because of his body image and how this reflected in his mental health

Imran Khan, Aamir Khan’s nephew and actor, has been away from acting for quite some time. Recently, his comeback on the silver screen news made headlines in the bollywood world. Imran who’s been very active on socials nowadays has shared some memories of being skinny and how before entering the films, he was advised to gain weight. He wrote expressing his feelings that he is used to be very embarassed because of his body structure.

People often talked about my weight

The actor further said that in my first film jaane tu yaa jane naa “I didn’t need to be in good shape to portray Jay Singh Rathore. However, I was told I was too thin for the role, so in the film, Jay Singh mostly wears double-layered clothes. I joined the gym for my next film ‘Kidnap,’ and that marked the beginning of my bodybuilding journey. Over the next few years, exercise was an important part of my lifestyle . I exercised regularly, but I would still hear, can you build up for our movie? You look like a little kid? The heroine looks older than you.’ I heard such things.”

I was going through depression

Imran further wrote “over the past years I’ve been battling with depression. I stopped going to the gym. I stopped working out that impacted my body. I’ve became so thinner than I’ve ever been. When my photos went public at that time, everyone speculated that I’ve been on drugs. I felt a lot of shame about my condition”.

“But as for now, I’ve been great. The journey has been difficult from that to this. But now I work out with my friends and the things been good. Now I don’t feel insecure about myself”.
